Ascent into Limbo
The folly has consistently played an important role in informing the debate concerning the role art plays in architecture and vice versa. Popularized by the Romantics of the 18th and 19th century, these functionally obscure structures are often inserted into a garden or landscape, enhancing the surroundings externally and internally. ‘Ascent into Limbo’ adopts this notion of enhancement of it’s surroundings and contextualises the folly within a contemporary scene.
